We now offer an Alexander Technique class for performers!
You’ve taken classes, learned your craft. You've done your homework, and know you have the talent and the drive required to book the job. But time and again it slips through your fingers. So what’s stopping you from being the performer you want to be? Casting directors say that they are not so much interested in a “look” as they are in seeing a dynamic, poised, engaging and present actor walk into their office. So when the pressure's on, how do you learn to become the most authentic and confident YOU you can be?
The Alexander Technique gives performers the tools they need to become their most authentic selves. Students of this technique learn a practical approach to not only become more comfortable in auditions, but to learn to alleviate performance anxiety once they’ve booked the job so that they naturally experience more authenticity in their work. Suddenly performers are at ease and more comfortable in their bodies.
With lessons in the Alexander Technique, actors, dancers, and musicians find that their training and instincts are suddenly more available to them. They learn how to stay free and flexible, how to remain poised and well-balanced during an audition, meeting with an agent, or even during a networking event.
The Alexander Technique is this industry’s best kept secret.

Magic hands! That's all I have to say. These women have magic hands - with a slight touch, little nudge, and simple re-education of how the body was designed to move - they've taken a load off my shoulders. I used to endure neck and back pain sitting in front of my computer for 9 plus hours a day, thinking oh well - that's life. Not anymore. It's all about knowing how the body was designed to move and sit, and then readjusting oneself in alignment with those natural movements. My work in front of the computer is now pain free and I have more focus and energy! This class and these women are amazing. Thank you so much!!

I took Leah's and Jenn's class because I wanted to get away from teachers that work on 'auto-pilot'. I wanted someone who was going to take the time to see what MY challenges were and not simply attend a cookie-cutter class. Boy, was I happy with my choice! Jenn and Leah worked with each of us personally and listened to what we wanted to get out of the class. And the results have been remarkable. At my first audition after the course, the CD commented on how my posture was perfect for the character I was reading for. And even more important, I just feel better when I am using the technique. I'm much more relaxed and happy!
- Heather, Newcastle, PA
Before Leah and Jennifer's class, I knew I held unnecessary tension in my body but I didn't really know what to do about it. After just one class I was already feeling more relaxed and less stressed out. They create a comfortable and fun space to learn and explore and have given me more "aha" moments than I can count. I definitely walk into auditions now with more confidence and have seen a rise in the amount of work I'm booking. Thanks ladies! And thank you Alexander!

What does "AmSAT-certified" mean? The requirements for AmSAT teacher certification include the completion of 1,600 hours of training over a minimum of three years at an AmSAT-approved Teacher Training Course. Teachers spend this period learning how to observe ingrained, mostly unconscious patterning and develop a hands-on approach (literally!) to help the student release unwanted, habitual tension.AmSAT is the largest professional organization for teachers of the Alexander Technique in the US . It establishes and maintains the nation’s highest standards for teacher training, certification and membership.
